The rise of conservative-themed TV in Trump’s MAGA era

Evanne Evans, 29 Jul 2025

A noticeable shift is reshaping the U.S. television landscape, as consumers embrace more conservative-themed and traditional values-driven programming. In what some call the MAGA (Make America Great Again) era of media, networks and streaming services are increasingly catering to audiences seeking family-oriented, faith-based, and culturally conservative content.

Popular examples include Fox’s Farmer Wants a Wife, a reality dating show grounded in rural Americana, and Yellowstone spinoffs that celebrate grit, independence, and frontier values. Meanwhile, Tim Allen has returned to TV with Shifting Gears, a show steeped in nostalgic humor and traditional family dynamics.

Beyond mainstream networks, niche platforms like Truth+ have emerged with a mission to deliver quality Christian content, positioning themselves as safe havens for viewers seeking faith-based entertainment.

This pivot represents more than a reaction to viewer demand; it's also a recalibration after years of diversity and inclusion-focused storytelling. While diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) content opened doors to new narratives, a segment of the audience felt left behind. Now, networks are strategically expanding their offerings to reclaim that demographic.

Data suggests that conservative-style content is resonating, particularly in the American heartland and among older viewers who value traditional values on-screen. Media analysts note this trend isn’t just political, it’s cultural. It speaks to a desire for authenticity, stability, and programming that aligns with a rising number of consumer values.

As Hollywood shifts in response to economic pressures and cultural transitions, the rise of conservative TV signals a more ideologically diverse future. Whether driven by market strategy or cultural momentum, it seems red-state storytelling is no longer on the fringe but is becoming more prime-time.
